Billy, Jerry Lee and Hi-fi

Rest in peace Billy Preston. You were a warm hearted, talented person and I enjoy your music, voice, and personality a great deal.

Well, I saw Jerry Lee Lewis on Friday night. It was really one of the best concerts I've ever been to in my life. He was so funny and what an amazing piano player. Just...the best of the best. And he's 70! It made me feel very nice. And I was so happy I got to see him. I mean this guy played with Johnny Cash and Elvis! Geez, how much better can you get?

My new favourite book ever to be written: High Fidelity by Nick Hornby. Read it now if you haven't already. No joke.
I know you've probably seen the movie? John Cusack, Jack Black, etc. It's a great movie as well but the book really hits you in the heart..if that makes since. The main character, Rob Fleming (or Rob Gordon, as that's his name in the movie), is one interesting person that I can't wait to meet in my life someday.

Is it just me or is Peter's voice as beautiful and mesmorizing as anything in the world could ever be when he sing's "My Baby Gives it Away"? It's probably the best peice of music to be recorded ever at the moment in my life. I can't get enough of the sound that that man's vocal chords can produce. (Cheers to Ronnie too!)

Sorry this is short (actually now it isn't since I keep adding things), and I cannot believe I haven't posted pictures. It's true, I'm as lazy as they get.
I'll get better I promise. Maybe? Yes I think so.

Love love love love love

Hi Claire,
you're lucky to see Jerry Lee Lewis while he's with us. I saw him once in Memphis, an amazing performer.

The music is rolling along. I posted two new songs to my IAC page, one of them "Bermondsey" was at #6 on Folk Rock / Accoustic / Americana chart. It was written for my Dad. The other song was put up about a week after this and it is somewhere around number 100. I keep plugging away, mostly just enjoy the ability to write and turn our decent sounding demos, what I do with these demos is up in the air.

Let me know if you plan on posting your band's new song, I'd love to hear it.

Foy is going to be guest on In The Attic on Tuesday, and I believe Layla Astley will also play. I hear there will be no loop this time, so don't miss it.

Thanks for stopping by the blog, and keep up your terrific taste in music.

Claire-E, dear, I have been wondering where you've been. Busy and having fun! What else? I am glad you have enjoyed a concert, and the tribute to Preston is very humbling (the image is a great one!); but did you know Pete has opened up his blog again? As in the boy who heard music?

I might be going blind in my age dove, but I haven't seen your name in comments...so I've been wondering. Certainly the school year is coming to a close for you and those leading up days are busy-busy.

Wishing you all the best in those!

Hi Claire,

Wow, Jerry Lee, you are very lucky!!!
I was very sad to hear about Billy Preston, he did a good job with The Beatles in Let it Be, and he made me cry when he sang My Sweet Lord at The Concert for George.
Yeah, number 9, a good one, it's my favourite...
I'm very glad because Pete has opened up his blog again..

Love is the answer!!!!

Hi Claire,

Jerry Lee came to Athens and gave a fabulous concert, back in 1988. Outside, during the warm month of June. Under the full moon. The support act was Joan Jet. Combine all that with a hot-blooded, Mediterranean audience (among them, me) and you get an unforgettable show. He was amazing and I will never forget that at the end he said
"You are the best audience I've ever had!" We were going nuts, dancing all through his songs.
Unless he says that every time, lol.

Billy Preston is very dear to me. I loved his collaboration with the Beatles and his solo work too.
"Running Around In Circles" is one of my fave songs ever. Paul Weller has done a nice cover version too.

Kisses to ya,
xoxoxo

OMG, "Whole Lotta Shakin' Goin On" kicks ass! :)
That's a stunning opportunity you had.
Wow.

And I haven't read High Fidelity,but I'm curious about it now. :)
I'm pulling myself out of a blue mood, sorry I haven't written in awhile. Your news in your recent posts gave me the biggest smile I've had in awhile!

I found your blog through Rachel's, through some comment which led me to Micheal(and his new Tele) And you met Pete! I am an old fart(41) and still wish I could meet him! Very cool!

I favor Street in the City if we are talking Rough Mix...his wry sense of humor can be heard in the knickers line!

I need to read more about how you got in the Attic!
